ABOUT PROFESSOR EDEL:

I am currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Humanities, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, Borough of Manhattan Community College of CUNY.  I received my Ms & PhD from the Department of Science and Technology Studies, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. My research is on the contested production and practice of choice, and biomedical knowledges and institutions. My work is within the traditions of Science and Technology Studies (STS), Sociocultural Theory and the Social Studies of Medicine and the Health Sciences. I completed a dissertation entitled “Navigating Choice: Medical Tourism, Travel and Care in the New Global Biomedicine”.
